Our 4-Step Professional
Powder Coating Process
Powder coating is 90% prep. We don't cut corners. Our strict 4-step professional standard guarantees a flawless, durable finish every time.
Chemical Strip & Degrease
We never blast over old paint or powder unless absolutely necessary. Every part goes through our full immersion chemical stripping tank. This aggressive stripping agent breaks down old finishes safely without damaging the underlying substrate.
After stripping, the parts go into our hot degreasing tank. We remove all oils, brake fluids, grease, and shop residues to ensure a completely clean surface before moving to mechanical abrasion.
Media Blast & Outgas
Once chemically clean, parts enter our blasting cabinet. We use aluminum oxide or glass bead media (depending on the part) to create the perfect 1.5–2.0 mil anchor profile. This microscopic texture is what allows the powder to permanently bond to the metal.
Crucial Step: All cast parts (especially cast aluminum wheels and calipers) are then placed in the oven at 450°F to "outgas." This bakes out trapped impurities in the porous metal that would otherwise cause bubbling or pinpoint craters in the final finish.
Precision Masking & Coat
Our masking game is unmatched. We use high-temp silicone plugs, custom fiberglass tapes, and die-cut masks to protect every threaded hole, bearing race, and critical mating surface. Powder coating adds thickness; we make sure it doesn't go where it doesn't belong.
We then use our professional electrostatic spray guns to apply the powder. The parts are electrically grounded, and the positively charged powder wraps around the part for an even, consistent mil thickness in every crevice.
Oven Cure & QA
Parts are carefully transferred to our infrared/convection oven and brought up to exactly 400°F part metal temperature (PMT). During this cure cycle, the powder melts, flows, and cross-links into a solid, durable polymer shell.
Once cooled, every piece undergoes a rigorous Quality Assurance check. We use an electronic mil-thickness gauge, verify coverage under high-CRI inspection lights, and ensure all masking lines are perfectly crisp before releasing the parts back to you.
